Object Description
Pair of large grey marble Neoclassical Campana form garden vases
Continental, Late 19th Century
Height 46cm, diameter 44cm
These fantastic pieces are a pair of large Neoclassical garden vases, carved from grey marble in the familiar Medici vase shape or ‘Campana’ form. Made in continental Europe in the late nineteenth century, they bring a remarkable level of both antique and Classical grandeur to the setting in which they are placed, making use of their fine raw material to great effect. With small square bases and slender stems, with a band of wide gadrooning, they broaden out to wide-open mouths, making a near identical pair of fine antique pieces with great style.
