Object Description
Pair of large Neoclassical style glass, marble and ormolu pedestals
French, 20th Century
Height 114cm, diameter 42cm
This pair of Neoclassical style pedestals have been crafted from marble, ormolu, and coloured glass.
Green, richly veined marble is shaped in the form of a rectangular top and is supported by an ormolu Corinthian column capital. The column capital is adorned with symmetrically positioned acanthus leaves and its three-dimensional design accentuates the fine craftsmanship employed.
Blue and white glass fluted columns form the central part of each pedestal and are framed to the centre by elegant ormolu detailing. A marble and ormolu stepped, square base rests atop four ormolu bun feet.
Of an elegant and sophisticated design, this pair of pedestals form an exquisite stand-alone decorative object or are the perfect base onto which other superb pieces can be displayed.
