Object Description
Pair of large, very fine English silver gilt Torah finials or Rimonim
London, 1926
Height 40cm, diameter 9cm
Wrought from silver and embellished with touches of silver gilt, these fine items of antique Judaica are a pair of Rimonim, Torah finials, adorning the top ends of the rollers of a Torah scroll. Made in England in the early twentieth century, these pieces are a particularly beautiful decorative pair of examples, highly ornate, and finished with a wonderful radiant quality.
Hallmarked and dated ‘M.S’, 1926, for Moses Salkind of London, they feature an elegant decorative scheme, with stars of David on top of spherical domes, with embossed sections of silver interspersed with circular friezes of lions, bells and stags, with small beaded bands to the base. Particularly beautiful examples of these fine items of Judaica, they will be of great interest and appeal to those with a love of antique Judaica and antique silverware alike.
