Object Description
A pair of late 19th century Hepplewhite style mahogany oval back open armchairs.
This pair of chairs consist of a shaped mahogany oval back with moulded edge and elaborately carved and pierced back splat consisting of carved rams heads and wheat ears to the top leading down to a circular pierced leaf and berry design with foliate decoration to the centre leading down to further foliate decoration with foliate carved back supports below.
This leads down to shaped and carved arms with shaped and carved moulded arm supports with carved foliate decoration, the green leather seats of serpentine shape to the front, secured with brass dome head nails.
The chairs are supported by tapered legs to the front with carved oval paterae to the top terminating with a spade foot, the back legs of outswept design.
This pair of chairs are in excellent condition for age, are of stable constriction and can go straight into a home.
