Object Description
Pair of Louis XV style gilt-bronze wall lights by Barbedienne
French, Late 19th Century
Height 51cm, width 41cm, depth 35cm
Signed for the leading bronzier and metalworker Ferdinand Barbedienne, this excellent pair of wall lights were made in France in the late nineteenth century, during the Belle Époque, and as such combine stylistic influences, mainly Louis XV and Neoclassical, to make a fine antique lighting addition to any interior. Representing the quality of Barbedienne’s work, they consist of rich, scrolling foliate ormolu mounts, and four candelabra to each piece. As such, they are both the height of antique style and refinement, and an elegant addition to any modern interior.
