A Rare Matched Pair Of Late 19th Century Oval Trays With Exceptional Inlaid Decoration To Galleried Tops Having Original Brass Carrying Handles, Housed On Later Mahogany Stands With Elegant Bamboo Effect Turned Tapering Legs.
This beautiful pair of tray on stands would have started life simply as carrying trays, for serving from and caryring around. However at some point, probably around 40, or 50 years ago somebody has made a couple of very elegant stands for them and created a fantastically useful matched pair of coffee tables.
We describe them as a matched pair simply becuase there is a tiny difference in the dimensions of the two and also some minor differences in the inlaid decoration. However, to all intents and purposes there is absolutely no reason that they cannot be described as a pair of coffee tables.
They are very much fit for purpose and could be used in a whole variety of different spaces around the home, with the added bonus of having a couple of coffee tables which you can lift the tops off of and carry around with you should you wish.
As with all items we offer for sale this pair of tables have been through our workshops, where any minor defects which may have been present have been attended to in the tradiotional fashion by our highly skilled antique furniture restorers. They have then of course received a good clean and natural beeswax polish before being presented for sale, meaning that they are ready for immediate use.
