Object Description
Pair of Neoclassical style round side tables, manner of Adam Weisweiler
French, 19th Century
Height 76cm, diameter 37.5cm
These exquisite round side tables, or gueridon, are made in the French Neoclassical style, in the manner of similar tables made by the preeminent 18th Century furniture maker Adam Weisweiler (c.1750 – c.1810).
Each table is constructed with three pairs of gilt bronze legs, in the form of bamboo stems, which hold aloft the circular red-orange marble tops. To the bottom, the bamboo legs connect to a convex triform stretcher, itself held up by three curling feet with gilt bronze mounts.
The tables are stamped ‘P. Garnier / 3296’ and feature a sticker reading ‘Collezione Bonomi’. This sticker indicates that these two tables were previously owned by the Italian businesswoman Anna Bonomi Bolchini (1910-2003).
