Pair of patinated bronze and ormolu ewer vases
French, late 19th Century
Height 54cm, width 23cm, depth 18cm
Each vase in this pair, wrought in the Louis XV style, is formed from a combination of gilt and patinated bronze. The patinated bronze body of each is decorated with a relief scene of putti carousing with musical instruments and fruits of the harvest. Each vase sits on a gilt bronze base, the bronze beautifully adorned with foliate motifs, and each is mounted to the top with a gilt bronze ewer-form neck. Strikingly, each features a beautiful, curved handle topped by a winged putto finial.
