Object Description

Pair Silkwork Embroideries Depicting Exotic Pheasants. Framed in an old, gilded frame with rippled, dimpled, old glass. Fixed to wood with chipboard backing. The embroideries are worked in silk on a silk ground, in a variety of stitches. Colours golds, cream, green, pale blue, black, browns and pinks. Both pictures depict a pheasant perched on a branch with floral and leaf decoration.

Object Condition

Generally Good. A couple of splits to the ground of one and a pull to the ground of other. A few stains and slight uniform age darkening to the ground of both. No stitch losses. Colours are all good and strong with no noticeable fading. No colour run. Stretching is slightly uneven. Frames showing wear and chips, but structurally sound.
