This beautiful timepiece is a unique, extremely fine, Eight-Day keyless hunting cased pocket watch mounted in 18K solid pink gold, made by the makers Parmigiani of Fleurier, Switzerland, inspired by the glory of Ancient Egypt, and featuring superb hand-engraved pictoral elements inside the case, and a black onyx dial.
In a three-body case, the front and rear covers are engraved with two parts of a scene depicting an Egyptian lady reclining on a bed, with a leopard in the foreground, and a Nubian servant watching behind. In the background on the reverse, the Nile with a river boat is visible. In solid pink gold and black onyx, the engraving is as exquisite as the movement of the watch itself.
The dial is black onyx and uniquely adorned, with Egyptian hieroglyphs for the 12, pink gold javelin hands, and a power reserve dial on the right-hand side. The movement, is a calibre 24 two-toned rhodium, 29 jewel piece, featuring a straight-line lever escapement, a self-compensating Breguet balance spring, and a micrometre regulator.
Ref. U1941, movement No. 17005, case No. 2130, with dial, case, and movement signed Parmigiani Fleurier, and the engraved covers E.J.
