Object Description
A very fine and well sculpted French Sevres turquoise glazed ceramic figure of an elephant by renowned French ceramist Paul Milet (French, 1870-1950) and dating from around 1920. The standing elephant is well proportioned with excellent detail with a hanging trunk and long tusks with incised facial features and rippling to the skin and legs. The tail extends from the slightly raised back bone and hangs to one side. The figure is decorated in rich turquoise glazes and has an old collectors paper label attached to the lower body reading ‘SEVRES bought in Paris 1930 – vintage’.
