Object Description
An antique William IV sterling silver meat platter/serving dish made by Paul Storr which is oval shape in design with a plain body, gadroon decoration around the borders and resting on a flat base. This silver meat platter has been made to a very high standard, as one wold expect from Paul Storr, and would be perfect to use on the table. There are some very slight knife marks on the body which are normal and in keeping with natural use over the years. There is also a crest on one side of the border which adds to the history of this desirable and collectible piece.
The arms on the meat platter are those of Henry Preston of Moreby Hall, Yorkshire and those of his wife Anna Crompton, daughter of Joshua Crompton of Esholt Hall, Yorkshire. They were married in 1814.
