Object Description
Persian floral Qum silk rug
Persian, c. 1950
Height 194cm, width 129cm
Magnificently woven by skilled craftsmen from Qum, Iran, the rug is rendered in a refined colour palette and showcases an interesting nature-inspired design. Woven from luscious silk, the rug includes a high knot count ensuring the design is clearly visible, attention-grabbing and the quality is of the highest standard.
The central rectangular panel is filled with a vivid red base on which a plethora of floral and foliage patterns emerges. The cream-coloured scrolling branches extend towards the central circular panel, drawing the observer’s attention towards it. The shape is filled with several motifs arranged symmetrically. A thin border frames the central panel and the edge of the rug. This is filled with smaller floral motifs. Another, wider border with a darker colour palette beautifully complements the rest of the design of this fine silk rug.
Shades of orange, yellow, cream and red predominate in the design of this rug, making it a refined and elegant addition to the appropriate interior space.
