Object Description
A rare 18th century (circa 1790) Continental mahogany commode of oxbow form and of generous proportions, possibly German.
This unusual commode consists of a solid mahogany top of oxbow form to the front with a moulded edge.
This leads down to four graduated drawers of oxbow form with superb quality brass handles and escutcheons, to either side the corners of fluted and stop-fluted design.
This leads down to a moulded edge of oxbow form to the front, the sides of mahogany with moulded edge below all supported on four shaped ogee feet.
To the reverse we have found a small brass plaque ‘AGNEW’ which probably relates to a previous owner.
This commode is in very good condition for age, is of stable construction and can go straight into a home.
Please note: the bronze has been used for photographic purposes only and is not included in the price.
