Object Description

An unusual double serpentine fronted oak Franco Flemish commode on claw and bun feet dating to the early 18th Century.

Franco – Flemish region, circa 1720.

The moulded top above three long drawers each with conforming bowed / bombé fronts with the original brass handles and twin escutcheons, flanked by moulded quadrant corner terminals with carved surmounts, the sides with a shaped and fielded panels and the whole raised on wonderfully carved claw and bun front feet.

This superb serpentine fronted commode was purchased from a large chateau. A rare example being of solid oak with its distinctive shaped drawer fronts and pronounced mouldings with an excellent colour and patina.

Please note it is very unusual to find front feet of this form on a commode.
