Rare Joseph Landais Palissy Majolica Fish Wall Platter (Signed)

Object Description

Joseph Landais French Palissy Majolica wall platter which features two fish (a carp and a pike), an eel and a crayfish. Intaglio patterned border and scalloped rim. Colouration: blue, brown, yellow, are predominant. The piece is signed, bearing a good maker’s mark for the Joseph Landais pottery.

Object Condition

Good. RESTORATION. Small, filled surface chip to rim. One crayfish leg and antenna remodelled. Filled chips to eels dorsal fin. Shallow chips/wear to the hanging holes on the reverse.
