Object Description
From the late 19th century we are lucky to be able to offer this rare pair of antique Heriz rugs, with fantastic muted natural dyes, and very close in colour and design. These tribal weavers rarely wove pairs to be identical but they are very close, with similar motifs and connecting three medallions down the centre. One rug is slightly warmer in colour than the other, this is not down to sunlight fading, but purely as the dyes have faded and oxidised differently as it is a different batch of wool used.
One rug measures 183 x 99 cm and the other is 182 x 94 cm, so they are very close in size. We are selling them as a pair, as it would be a real shame to separate them.
Both rugs are in very good condition, with a medium wool pile height and sides and fringes secure. These would look amazing either side of a bed or in hallway. Rare to find pairs of antique rugs in these wonderful colours, both are full of charm and fabulous geometric motifs.
