Object Description
This set of 12 crested George II Scottish silver three prong dinner forks were made in Edinburgh in 1742 by Ebeneezer Oliphant and Edward Lothian as assay master, they measure 7.25 inches in length and are crested to the back of the stems with a cockerel and the motto VIRTUTE ET LABORE above, which matches a set of 12 pistol handled dinner knives in our other listings – they are fully hallmarked on the backs of the stems in varying degrees of clarity and are in very good condition – some tines are worn but still very useable.
