Rare Staffordshire Pottery Bactrian Camel Figure

Object Description

Staffordshire Pottery figure which features a Bactrian camel with a leather water bottle at its feet, stood on an oblong base. Bright gilt base line. Book reference ,’Victorian Staffordshire Figures 1835-1875′ Book 3, by A.& N. Harding, page 260, figure a2865/a2866.

Object Condition

Generally good. Flake to camel’s left eye. Hairline along the mold join to the first hump; shrinkage line to the base. Crazing in places. RESTORATION: Remodelled right front leg. Retouched paint loss to ground.
