Object Description
An Extremely Attractive And Very Rare Early 18th Century, George I Period, Walnut Tallboy, Or Chest On Chest, Having Superbly Figured Veneers Throughout, The Top With Two Short And Three Long Drawers, Flanked By Elegant Canted Corners To Top, Over Three Long Drawers To Base, Retaining Original Brasswear Throughout, Raised On Replacement Shaped Bracket Feet.
Its extremely unusual to find an item of this type which offers such small and elegant proportions. These make it the perfect candidate to fit just about any space, in any room, in any house. The added bonus is that it is also a lovely example of it’s type with the walnut veneers being very well selected and boasting a lovely rich colour and patina alongside their superb figuring.
It also retains its lovely original brass handles and these have aged gracefully, again its much rarer to find functional items of this age which still have their original handles. It does have replacement bracket feet, but again that is relatively common and these examples are very much in the original style so look great on the piece, especially as they have been in situ for quite some number of years.
Tallboys, or Chest On Chests as they are sometimes known are such useful, functional pieces of furniture. This item is as fit for purpose as the day it was made, with the added bonus being very beautiful indeed, which really is remarkable when you consider it was made over 300 years ago.
As with all the items which we offer for sale this Georgian Walnut Chest On Chest has been inspected and attended to in our workshops by our highly skilled, specialist trained, antique furniture restorers and received a natural wax polish before being offered for sale to ensure that it is in excellent condition and ready for immediate placement within the home.
