Object Description
A Very Good Quality Mid 19th Century, Victorian Period, Rectangular Walnut Salon Stool Having Attractive Serpentine Shaped Deep Buttoned Old Damask Covered Seat, Over Moulded Frame With Good Carved Decoration, Raised On Four Elegant And Bold Cabriole Legs Terminating With Foliate Carved Decoration And Tall Turned Feet.
A relatively typical in terms of overall design mid 19th century large stool, that stands above many in terms of the quality and elegance of its features and constuction. It has been constructed using particularly good quality, dense walnut timbers which have allowed for an excellent quality of carving and shaping.
The upholstery featured on top is a form of Damask, and in relatively good condition considering how old it probably is. We don’t believe it to be original, but certainly it is in the original style and has been in place for a very long while. There are of course some old minor stains and marks but nothing that reallu takes the eye and it is generally clean and in good condition overall as can be seen from the photos.
Perfect for a host of spaces around the home, this stool is also something which could be used for a whole host of different purposes aside from just the original obvious intention as a stool. Many people would consider purchasing a tray to place on top and then using a stool of this design and proportions as a coffee type table.
Overall it is in really good sound condition and ready for immediate placement within the home having been inspected at our workshops by our trained antique furniture restorer and received a natural wax polish before being placed on sale.
