Object Description
Fine neat size early 19th century Regency mahogany barrel fronted chest of drawers very much in the style of Gillows of Lancaster. This beautiful and neat sized chest of drawers has three large drawers with mirror matched standing flame veneers and cock beaded edges. The drawers are all mahogany lined with cedar drawer bottoms (a sure sign of quality). All the drawers have their original turned wooden knobs and original super quality brass locks with “S” shaped keyhole as can be seen in the photo. The locks have the original working key. The chest stands on its original scroll shaped feet both front and back with the front ones have a reeded front edge.
The chest is basically in very good condition with no cracks to the top or sides and it is a very pleasing colour with waxed finish. There are a couple of run marks to the front on the right hand side which in my opinion don’t detract too much.
