Object Description
High quality early 19th century Regency brass inlaid rosewood sofa table in good original condition. This is an extremely high quality piece of furniture that at one time would have commanded a high price. Early style trestle ends with swept and shaped legs with brass line inlay and original cast brass castors. High stretcher which is beautifully brass inlaid. The table has two drawers, both in the same side with dummy drawers to the back. The drawers are mahogany lined and retain their original brass knob handles both front and back. The top is beautifully grained with brass line inlay around the edges with floral type brass inlays all round. The edge of the top is moulded cross grain rosewood with a central brass inlaid line. The lopers that hold the leaves up come out to form part of the frieze.
The table is in overall very good condition and is a beautiful mellow colour but it does require minor restorations mostly a couple of small veneer repairs and some of the brass inlay needs gluing back down properly.
