Object Description
An Extremely Good Quality And Very Attractive 19th Century Late Regency Period Mahogany Pedestal Partners Desk, Having Lovely Old Leather Inset Top With Tooled Decoration, Over Nine Drawers To Front With Replacement Brass Knobs And Three Drawers Over Two Cupboard Doors To Reverse, With Attractive Gadrooned Mouldings Throughout, Raised On Original Plinths And Concealed Castors.
A fabulous quality and incredibly elegant example of a typical English Regency partners desk. It is constructed from good quality mahogany timbers and has survived the test of time extremely well. Indeed the gadrooned carving decoration is a real classy feature and adds hugely to the overall appeal of the desk. It also features lovely crisp mahogany drawer linings another sign of real quality.
The leather top is old, but not original which means that it retains a lovely warm surface and is still in very good condition as can be seen in the photos. Whilst not original the turned brass knobs are of a regency design and sit extremely well on the desk.
Another feature worthy of comment is the size of this desk, which is just perfect in terms of being large enough to be functional, but not so large that it requires a huge space or room. Indeed it would work just about anywhere, in any room as a desk and would probably also make a great dressing table
As with all items we offer for sale the desk has been inspected by our highly skilled antique furniture restorers and received a natural wax polish to ensure its in its best possible condition before being placed on sale.
