Object Description
Early 19th century Regency period giltwood overmantel mirror of a classical design. The mirror retains all of its original gilding and also retains its original beautiful soft bevelled plate. The design of the mirror is typical Regency, more refined than later gilt mirrors. Ebonised reeded slip.
It looks to me as though originally this mirror has been the centre part of a much larger mirror or else it has been fitted into an alcove at some time. There is an additional dust board that has been fixed to the back. Came from a large private Georgian house in Scone where it was screwed to the wall above a fireplace.
SIZE; 40″ wide by 34 1/2″ High. The plate size is 29″ by 19″
CIRCA; 1810 – 1820
