Object Description
An ancient Roman, six-sided cuboid die modelled in bone. Each facet of the die is incised with the appropriate number of concentric circles, ranging from one to six. In Latin, a singular six-sided dice was referred to as ‘tessera’, and the plural was ‘tesserae’. Four-sided, knucklebone dice, were known as ‘tali’ (plural).
