Object Description

An ancient Roman, bronze, propeller-shaped, belt stiffener. The belt fitting consists of a pair of triangles, flanking a central boss, which has been decorated with incised concentric circles. Both triangular protrusions have a singular perforation for fixation.

Date: Circa 4th – 5th century AD

Object History

Ex Wiltshire collection of brooches and militaria, acquired 1980s-2000s.

Object Condition

Good condition. Large areas of patination. Fixtures now missing.
