Object Description
A fine Roman bronze crossbow brooch featuring a semi-circle arched bow and a flattened foot. The ridged cross-bar is adorned with three small onion-shaped knobs, one at either end and a final knob brought forward from the cross-bar and applied to the bow. A small granule sits on top of each of the knobs. The curved bow is decorated with incised, diagonal striations. The rectangular foot is enriched with carved geometric designs, in two registers. The hinged pin, still complete, sits in the pin catch and is now fixed in place.
