Object Description
A fine Roman bronze dragonesque type brooch, featuring an ‘S’ shape formed of two zoomorphic heads, seen in profile and joining at the centre. Each head displays a small ring-and-dot motif to render the animals’ eye. The animal’s features have been executed in a stylised manner, including pricked ears and a curved snout. The reverse displays the original hinge and transverse catch-plate, which would have held the now missing pin. An incised diagonal cross motif decorates one side of the catch-plate.
