Roman Bronze Lunula Amulet

Object Description

A fine Roman bronze amulet in the shape of a crescent moon. The obverse has been decorated with seven small, incised circles. The reverse remains unadorned. A loop has been added to the top for suspension.

Date: Circa 1st-3rd century AD

Ex Wiltshire collection of brooches and militaria, acquired 1980s-2000s.

Object Condition

Fine condition, small break of the bronze on the reverse of the suspension loop. Marking of the previous collection to the reverse.
