Roman Bronze Penannular Celtic Style Brooch

Object Description

A fine Roman bronze penannular brooch featuring a rounded shape with large, circular terminals. A prominent ridge with two horizontal grooves is displayed at the top of the brooch. A free-moving, thick pin sits vertically across the diameter attached by a loop. The terminals are enriched with vibrant red enamel inlays in the shape of a circle with a central dot in a Celtic style.

Date: 2nd-3rd century AD

Object Condition

Fine condition, slight eroding to places where the pin sits and small sections of the inlays are now missing. Pale green patination covers the surface.
