Object Description
A very fine, Roman bronze quillon, decorated with phallic motifs. It features a solid rectangular plaque with a central, ovoid hole. A large manus fica, a clenched fist with the thumb wedged between two fingers, is depicted on the short side. On the longer side, a stylised phallus extends outwards. Incisions have been used to detail the fingers of the manus fica, with the thumb protruding clearly. Incisions mark the sides of the rectangular plaque, most likely indicating wings, which were often included on phallic items.
