Object Description
A very fine Ancient Roman dark green glass flask featuring ribbed decoration and striking iridescence. The body of the flask is globular in shape, resting upon a flat foot with a circular pontil marking. A short cylindrical neck, slightly tapering towards the top, develops to a wide, folded rim, adorned with an encircling incision to the interior. The body is decorated with fine ribs spiralling downwards to the right. The glass displays a deep green colouration enhanced with a polychromatic iridescent sheen and featuring silvery-purple iridescence across the surface. Some scratches, pitting, pinprick bubbles and earthy encrustations are visible to the glass.
