Roman Glass Jar

Object Description

A small Roman jar blown from pale blue, translucent glass although the majority of the surface is now covered with encrustation and iridescence. The vessel features a bulbous body which slightly narrows towards the concave base. The shoulders curve in to a short neck which leads to a wide mouth with a folded rim.

Date: Circa 1st-2nd century AD

Object Condition

Very fine condition, encrustation and iridescence to the interior and exterior of the jar.
