Roman Gold Pendant with Deep Red Garnet

Object Description

A small, delicate Roman gold pendant featuring a garnet cabochon inset. The semi-precious stone is encased in gold with an unadorned reverse. A loop has been applied to the top for suspension.

Date: Circa 1st-3rd Century AD

Object Condition

Fine condition, minor chips to the surface of the garnet and some cracks to the gold with the majority being on the reverse where it meets the sides.. Some encrustation visible to the surface.
