Roman Green Glass Double Balsamarium with Trail Decoration

Object Description

A finely blown Ancient Roman pale green glass double balsamarium, composed of two co-joined tubular phials. The body widens towards the base and is decorated with a thin applied trail of glass creating horizontal bands. Two small ribbon handles, drawn and tooled to either side, extends from the rim to the body. The piece has been mounted on a custom-made stand.

Object Condition

Fine condition, earthly encrustations to the surface. Some loss of the trail decoration. Measurements of the balsamarium itself: 10.6cm height, 3.9cm width.
