Roman Green Glass Flask

Object Description

An Ancient Roman flask formed from turquoise-green glass. The flattened globular body of the vessel rests upon a flattened base with a subtle, pontil mark. A long, cylindrical neck extends towards a circular mouth with a folded, everted rim. The glass displays a lovely green colouration and vivid iridescence.

Date: Circa 1st-2nd Century AD

Ex Mayfair, London, UK, gallery, 1990s-2000s. From an important collection of glass, the property of a London gentleman.

Object Condition

Very fine. Earthy encrustations and wear to the surface. Iridescence to the interior and exterior of the vessel.
