Object Description

An Ancient Roman bronze horse spur featuring a prick to the neck and square terminals. The spur features a short U-shaped body which slightly tapers in towards the protruding square terminals. These would have allowed for the spur to be attached to the rider’s shoe/boot. The neck is adorned with a single prick stud attachment with ribbing on either side. This spur would have been used across all regions of the Roman Empire, attached to the heel of the rider’s boot in warfare.

Date: Circa 3rd-4th century AD
