Object Description
A very fine Roman silver crossbow brooch featuring a semi-circle arched bow and short, flattened foot. The cross-bar is adorned with three small knobs, one at either end and a final knob brought forward from the cross-bar and applied to the bow. Incised horizontal etchings are displayed across the foot while two piercing are visible to the bar. Across the side of the brooch is the inscription ‘E X SVPERA’. The hinged pin, still complete, sits in the pin catch, now fixed in place.
