Roman Turquoise Glass Jar with Trailing

Object Description

A fine Roman jar blown from translucent turquoise glass. The vessel features a bulbous body with shoulders that taper in and flare out to an everted mouth. The vessel sits upon a concave base. The jar is enriched with delicate trailing around the neck from the shoulder to the rim in a zigzag pattern.

Date: Circa 4th century AD

Object Condition

Excellent condition, some bubbles trapped in the glass during the making process. Encrustation to both the interior and exterior.
