Object Description
A large and very unusual Austrian Royal Vienna Art Nouveau vase raised on three legs hand painted with autumnal fruiting stems made at the Alexandra Porcelain Works in Turn and attributed to Paul Dachsel (Czech b.1880) and dating from around 1900. This incredible porcelain vase has a three sided wide body supported in three large square formed legs and narrows to a triangular shaped top with a round opening. The legs and top of the vase is molded with gilded crater and stone work like textured designs in a rough cast manner set against a brown colored ground with a raised stud work design applied around the base The body of the vase is hand painted with leafy stems, some bearing fruit, in red and brown autumnal colors. These are painted against a blush ground. The base of the vase has a red printed mark reading Alexandra Porcelain Works Royal Vienna Turn along with Made in Austria. The vase also has a painted number D9215 along with a further impressed mark 9307.
