Object Description
An imposing 17-inch dial rustic French dial clock dating from the middle of the 19th century, with a gold-painted metal surround.
The movement case is a hexagonal wooden structure, edged in shaped wooden sections, left as an unpolished backbox.
The French movement has an 8-day duration. It has outside countwheel strike on a bell, striking the hours and the passing of the half hour.
There is a regulation arbor which protrudes through the dial, just above the signature, Hirt, Nantes.
