Object Description
Circa 1860, unusual sabicu hall chair, which is stamped with the ‘J Whitehead’ makers mark beneath. With large circular back that is profusely inlaid with a symmetrical pattern with roundels, and interlaced foliate carving. The solid seat has a simple moulded edge, and the 2 back legs are square spade and out swept. With an unusual feature of a single front leg, which is fluted and at the top, and tapers and finishes on a large, squat bulbous end.
