A Stunning Quality Early 20th Century Satinwood China Display Cabinet, Having Dental Moulded Cornice Over Two Elegant Astragal Glazed Doors, Enclosing Three Adjustable Glass Shelves, Over Further Pair Of Smaller Cupboard Doors With Central Division, Boasting Exceptional Polychrome Painted Decoration Throughout, Raised On Original Splayed Feet With Elegant Shaped Apron.
This is one of the best quality early 20th century china display cabinets we have ever had the pleasure of owning. In the Sheraton revival style it is constructed using the finest quality satinwood and secondary wood materials that would have been available at the time.
It is a great, practical size with three adjustable glass shelves making it more than useful for showing off those prized items. It also has a couple of smaller cupboards in the bottom, which are very useful indeed for hiding away anything which you don’t want spoiling the view.
The painted decoration is quite stunning, with incredibly vivid and defined colours and in combination with the quality of the construction this is further evidence that the cabinet must originate from one of the very best workshops of the early 20th century.
Overall the condition is exceptional, however it should be noted that there is one very small piece of cracked glass near to one of the astragals. You should be able to see this tiny, hairline crack in the images attached and it does not detract from the item in the slightest, it just seemed somewhat of a shame to replace the original piece of glass just because of a tiny crack. However, should the purchaser wish for the glass to be replaced then we can arrange for this to be done pre delivery, at no extra charge and without devaluing the piece at all.
As with all the items we offer for sale we have had our skilled restorers give this a quick clean and natural wax, using traditional methods to ensure that it is ready to be placed straight into use in ones home. The cabinet also comes with working locks and key.
