Object Description
Circa 1810, Scottish (Edinburgh) mahogany and inlaid fold over table. The demi-lune top with double boxwood inlay and a moulded fore-edge sits over a boxwood and chequer inlaid frieze. This has a central drawer in it, and leads on to inlaid tapering supports with characteristic Edinburgh style inlay and brass castors.
Similar card tables were made for the Levee Room of the Comte d’Artois’ Holyrood apartments by Young, Trotter and Hamilton, 1796 (see Edinburgh Cabinet and Chair Makers’ Books of Prices 1805-25 by Kirk Wynd Press, 2000)
