Object Description
A very fine Scythian gold domed appliqué. The circular attachment has been crafted from a thin sheet of gold and hammered and punched, using a repoussé technique, to create a decorative motif. A swirling sun-burst pattern, alternating between ribbed and plain rays, flares outward from the centre. A raised bezel sits in the middle, surrounded by a thin, twisted wire of gold. The bezel most likely held an inlay originally, perhaps a semi-precious stone. The appliqué is perforated for attachment, with four holes altogether.
