Object Description
Semi-precious stone and silver bird model
Continental, 20th Century
Height 9cm, width 11cm, depth 6cm
A charming pair of sparrows perches atop a youngite agate rock. The birds are crafted from a selection of semi-precious stones. Turquoise is used for their bodies, the makers expertly carving feather detailing for a more realistic look. The beaks are carved from amber, creating a beautiful contrast of the deep orange stone against the vivid blue stone. Jet stone is most likely used for the delicate, round black eyes.
Both birds stand on two silver legs, attached to the top of the youngite agate rock. When placed in the sun, the rock wonderfully shimmers adding a stunning aesthetic feature to this objet d’art.
The materials used for this decorative object are believed to carry numerous spiritual meanings. Turquoise possesses calming energy, amber is used as a charm of courage and youngite agate has grounding energy.
Of a delicate size, this sweet pair of birds would make a magnificent addition to one’s collection of objects d’art.
