Object Description

A Charming Matched Set Of Six Early 19th Century, English Ash And Elm, Country Farmhouse Design, Dining Chairs Having Elegant Double Row Of Spindles With Central Carved Fan To Backs Over Rushed Seats Raised On Turned Legs United By Turned Stretchers.

These chairs are in good, functional condition. They have been through our traditional workshops for a wax polish and the joints have been tightened ensuring that the chairs are ready to go straight into use.

All of the rushed seats are in good order and we would expect that they have been re rushed relatively recently which is of course important when considering the cost and effort involved in having chairs like this re rushed these days.

The chairs are matched, which means that they did not not necessarily start life together as a set and this is of course the case with almost every set of country dining chairs. There were many variations being made at in many different places, at many different times and generally people just acquired them as and when they needed them. These are no different, which minor differences to the turnings of the stretchers, some of the measurements (although this is very minor) and just the overall construction techniques.

Perfect for both a formal and casual setting, in both a town or country home, this set of chairs is great value for money when compared to modern alternatives and incredibly functional.
