Object Description
Circa 1880. An unusual and stylish set of 8 oak Captain’s chairs, 5 with solid seats and 3 with Bergere/cane seats. The curved and shaped cresting rail with a pierced lifting handle, supported by several turned spindles, and 2 metal running from the arms to the bottom stretcher, with the arm rest bent at the front. The 5 solid seats are shaped, the back legs are turned and slightly out swept, the front legs are ring turned, finishing on a bulbous toe, unusually all the legs have double stretchers, the set have excellent colour, patination and are clean and stylish.
