Object Description

A magnificent set of four late 18th-century antique silver bright-cut engraved candlesticks.

The candlesticks stand on oval bases and the stems and knops of the candlesticks are beautifully panelled in very impressive fashion. Unfortunately, that makes them difficult to photograph because of their reflection.

The bases are beautifully hand engraved with neoclassical motifs and are engraved to both sides with a contemporary crest of a lion rampant.

They are in the most superb condition and are very well hallmarked on all the bases and all the original detachable nozzles.

Bright-cut engraved candlesticks are reasonably unusual as engraving was more common at this period on salvers, trays and teaware. It would be difficult to find a finer set of late 18th century candlesticks.

Dimensions: height 28.75 cm, length (of base) 15.7 cm, width 12.7 cm
